Made with materials from Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Craftsmen lead by Hikotaro Ikegami, an old shop that has been making tatami mats since 1890. With delicate craftsmanship, only five to six tatami carpets are able to be produced everyday. BasShu IGUSA rug is crafted to be lightweight and cooling with high-quality. The middle layer is sandwiched with a polyurethane foam layer to keep the carpet elastic and feel soft when sitting. Rush is a material that prevents the condensation of heat and keeps it dry and cool in summer. Unlike ordinary cotton carpets, tatami carpets can be cleaned regularly with a damp cloth.
